CHENNAI: World champion Magnus Carlsen revealed he's suffering the after-effects of Covid-19 on Day 3 of the Airthings Master even as his former world title challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi remained in top form. Nepo went 11 games unbeaten since the first round of the elite online super-tournament. He is now all but assured of a place in the knockout stage, while Carlsen - by his own admission - faces a battle to get through.
On Monday, Nepo scored wins against the young guns Hans Niemann and R Praggnanandhaa. Praggu had made headlines on Day 2 of the competition when he beat Carlsen.
