Spanish airline Vueling is increasing the frequency of flights on its Cardiff to Paris route.
The carrier said it will have three flights a week from the Welsh Government-owned airport from March.
The route, to Orly Airport in the French capital, was launched in November last year with two flight a week. The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The addition of Paris to Vueling’s summer schedule brings the number of direct routes on offer up to four with Veuling also offering Cardiff to Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca flights.
Latest passenger figures from the Civil Aviation Authority shows the airport, while well below pre-pandemic levels, had 21,426 passengers in November 2021, compared to 2,541 a year earlier.
Spencer Birns, chief executive of Cardiff Airport said: “We are delighted that Vueling has increased the frequency on the Paris route for summer, enabling our customers to travel with ease from Wales to explore all that Paris has to offer. We’ve been working hard to re-instate key routes following the impact of the pandemic, and we’d like to thank Vueling for seeing the opportunity at Cardiff to operate more flights to one of our most in-demand destinations.
“Vueling is a long-standing and valued partner of Cardiff Airport, and this year marks their 10th year of operations. We would like to thank the airline for their continued support and confidence in Cardiff Airport, and we look forward to welcoming more passengers to the airport this summer as the flying programme ramps up.”
