Airline's Eurovision Song Contest-branded plane aims to get sunseekers' vote

Sunseekers jetting could hit the high notes this summer with a Eurovision Song Contest branded plane. Low-cost Spanish airline, Vueling, has been announced as the official carrier of competition, which will be held in Turin from May 10 to 14.

The company will collaborate and support the renowned European festival through its extensive flight network including routes to the Italian city. Vueling has customised one of its Airbus A320NEO aircraft with the colours of the Eurovision Song Contest complete with images of a vinyl record with musical note motifs.

This plane will be used on all routes in Europe and will continue to operate until the end of the summer. Passengers on this aircraft will also be able to sample a special Eurovision on-board menu called “12 points" - the highest score that can be awarded to a country during the voting process.

The menu will encompass different types of dishes and drinks from the participating countries. Likewise, the interior of the plane will also be customised to host an in-flight event on Thursday, May 12, where many surprises will be revealed.

TikTok star Sam Ryder will be flying the flag for the UK in Italy with his song Space Man.

Meanwhile, travel search engine KAYAK has reported a surge in flight searches to host city Turin from UK airports, up about 108 per cent compared with pre-pandemic figures. The UK is the fifth in the list of nations with most searches ahead of Scandinavian Eurovision superfans in Finland, Sweden and Norway.
