Airline launches new route from Scottish airport to popular holiday spot

BRITISH Airways have launched new flights from a Scottish airport.

The airline is offering twice-weekly flights from Edinburgh Airport to San Sebastian in Spain’s Basque Country.

The flights will be operated by BA Cityflyer on its Embraer 190 aircraft for the summer season.

The new connection has been well received in both the Basque province of Gipuzkoa and in Scotland – where 80% of the tickets for the route have been purchased.

Azahara Domínguez, deputy of mobility, tourism and territorial planning with the Provincial Council of Guipuzkoa, said: "British Airways has expressed its satisfaction with its commitment to Gipuzkoa .

"Ticket sales are occurring in accordance with its expectations."

San Sebastian is well known for its Michelin-starred restaurants and vibrant pintxos bars while the city is also home to La Concha – considered one of the best urban beaches in Europe.

The flights will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays until July 30.
