An Airbnb traveller says they were hit with an A$1,700 (about US$1,200) claim after an Australian host submitted a photo purporting to show an overflowing toilet. The guest and Reddit users questioned whether the image was AI-generated.

The guest, posting under the Reddit username FurinaDeFontaine, shared the image on r/isthisAI on 29 September and questioned whether it accurately showed damage allegedly caused during the stay. The guest said, 'I did not even use toilet paper during my stay, so I couldn't have left those damages, but I am wondering if someone else might have, and those are real.'
