The Welsh town named the most in-demand Airbnb destination this Easter

If you're still looking to book a last-minute Easter holiday then you might want to take note of the latest research by Airbnb. The company has listed the UK's top trending destinations for the holiday, and two Welsh locations top the list.

The beautiful seaside town of Prestatyn in Denbighshire comes in first after seeing the biggest rise in Brits searching for stays on the platform. Famous for its miles of sandy beaches and scenic walks it's not hard to see why Prestatyn has proved popular.

Prestatyn wasn't the only Welsh town to emerge as a staycation hotspot in the top 10, with two other locations making the list. Both Carmarthen and Merthyr Tydfil have been included in the round-up.

Carmarthen came in second. Offering both countryside and coastline as well as many attractions from castles to a museum. While Merthyr Tydfil and its surrounding rolling hills also made the list, ranking in at number eight.

General Manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb, Amanda Cupples, said: "The nation is set to enjoy the first Easter weekend without Covid restrictions in two years, and it’s great to see Brits are exploring up-and-coming areas of the UK to make the most of it. The top trending destination list provides ample inspiration for those looking to get away and explore a new place over the long weekend.

"By visiting these local destinations, Brits are supporting local economies and communities, and for those based in these destinations who are considering listing their Home on Airbnb, now is a great time to sign up."
