Airbnb owner baffled by confused guest who couldn't open fridge or use oven

An Airbnb host was left baffled when a confused guest couldn’t figure out how to open the fridge or use the oven.

TikTok user Michelle, @theflowertruck, got a series of text messages from the young woman who seemed to be struggling with most appliances.

She asked about the fridge, saying it was 'locked', and asked how to turn on the gas for the oven - which was actually electric, the Mirror UK reports.

Michelle uploaded the amusing exchange to TikTok, where she captioned the video "I just need to know if my Air B&B guest is OK," and now her video has been viewed more than 4 million times.

In the clip, Michelle shares the text message exchange with the guest who chose to stay at her Air B&B in St Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

The first message reads: "Hi I just wanted to confirm if I could use the refrigerator because it's locked?"

Michelle says there is no lock on the fridge and maybe she should try opening it from the other side.

"Ok yes sorry," replies the guest, which is followed later by: "Hey the gas isn't turning on. It turns on for two seconds and then goes back off. How can I fix this?

The baffled owner replied with: "What do you mean by gas?"

Her guest explained she was trying to cook and it becomes apparent she has no idea how to use an electric oven.

"You should just turn the hob and leave it in place. There is no gas," said Michelle.

The guest still doesn't understand and sends a photo of the stove, with Michelle advising her to turn the knob onto "high" for cooking.

Apparently defeated, the guest later orders some takeaway food but then messages Michelle because she "can't find it".

"The delivery driver said he left it on the porch but I can't find it. Did you receive it?" asks the guest.

Michelle then shows CCTV of the porch, which shows the takeaway sitting on the floor practically next to the door, with footsteps in the snow even showing where the delivery person walked.

One user commented: "Your guest was definitely two children in a trench coat.

"Tried to get ingredients, tried to cook food, then decided to order delivery. 0/3 finished successfully," said a second.

A more sympathetic user suggested the guest may have been new to the country and not understood how appliances work.
