Air fryer chip tips as key steps makes them 'best French fries ever'

From veggies to roast beef, air fryers are becoming an increasingly popular way to quickly whip up delicious meals.

And while one of the best things about an air fryer is its simplicity, there are some clever tricks that can help make your food even tastier. As part of 'Air Fryer Week' on the @testkitchen TikTok account, expert Sam Block shows how to take your chips to that next level.

Chef Sam explains there are some steps early on in the process that people may not think about right away. From starting in cool water to 'patting' them dry after they've boiled, here's how you make the 'best ever' air fryer chips.

"If you want to make the best air fryer French fries ever, then you have to make this recipe," Sam starts excitedly.

She then walks viewers through the key steps, saying: "Cut russets into half inch sticks and rinse them in cold water to remove excess starch. Cover them with hot water for ten minutes and then pat them dry.

"Toss your potatoes with one tablespoon of oil and air fry at 350 for 13 minutes. Tossing them half way until blonde and spotty.

"Add one more tablespoon of oil, half a teaspoon of salt and air fry at 400 for 15 minutes until deeply golden and crisp."

The chef then shows off and the taste-test the crunchy finished product. Jumping for joy, she says: "If you want to make French fries in the air fryer, you’ve got to try this."

The clip clearly went down well with food fans, amassing just under 370,000 views as well as thousands of likes. Some even took to the comments to compliment the food ace's step-by-step guidance.

One said: "These are amazing," while another added they "look so good."

A third user beamed: "You are so cute with your excitement! You have the best positive energy! Thank you for the smile!"

"Omg! I’m so excited to try this…I'm biggest potato lover," wrote one more user.
