Air connectivity gets a boost: New Indore-Gondia-Hyderabad flight launched

BHOPAL/INDORE: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said, MP is being showered with several gifts - as road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari gifted new roads worth Rs 2,200 crore to MP while civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia gifted Indore-Gondia-Hyderabad flight to the state.

The CM was speaking at the virtual launch event of the Indore-Gondia-Hyderabad flight from his residence. The flight connecting MP, Telangana and Maharashtra will arrive at Indore at 10 am and depart for Gondia at 10:20 am. On the inaugural day 71 passengers boarded the flight to Gondia from Indore.

Policy on using small planes, helicopters to expand regional air connectivity is being worked on by the aviation minister, said Scindia on Sunday at the event. "We have connected Indore to 9 cities in the last eight months. With this Indore is now connected with 21 cities," said Scindia.

Thanking Scindia for Indore-Gondia flight, Chouhan said in Marathi,"Indore-Gondia flight is special to him because he is the son-in-law of Gondia."

"In Madhya Pradesh, Union civil aviation minister Jyotiradtya Scindia has given many gifts to Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur. Flights have started from Indore to Ahmedabad, Goa and Pune. Simultaneously, flights have been started from Bhopal to Pune, Jabalpur and Gwalior to Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai and from Jabalpur to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad," said Chouhan.

He further said that impetus is being given to connect small towns of the state by air travel. Helicopter service will be started from Khajuraho to Panna tiger reserve, Jabalpur to Kanha, Khajuraho to Orchha, Gwalior to Shivpuri and historical places of Morena, Indore to Maheshwar. Places of tourism and religious importance in the state will also be connected by air, he added.

Talking about the success of the UDAN scheme, he said 65 new airports and 405 new routes were developed under this policy. On demand for increasing international connectivity from Indore and starting flights for Sharjah, he said flight to Dubai has already started and we will try to fulfil demand for Sharjah as well.
