An air ambulance rushed to a fairground after a child was injured in a suspected ride malfunction.
Emergency services were called to Platt Fields park in Fallowfield, South Manchester, on Sunday following reports the child received minor injuries.
Onlookers watched as it landed on a grassed area beside the fairground, which has had its run extended until May 2.
Vehicles from Greater Manchester Police were also called to the incident, as well as paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service.
Manchester City Council confirmed a child sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene. The ride in question was also closed down throughout the day on Monday for checks to be carried out by an independent inspector instructed by the council.
The ride will be visited again for more checks on Tuesday, reports the Manchester Evening News.
It's understood that the ride had recently been certified as meeting safety standards following a routine inspection back in March and was also insured.
A spokesperson for Manchester City Council said: "The Council was made aware of an incident at a fairground in Platt Fields Park which resulted in a callout for the emergency services. Due to a suspected malfunction a child sustained minor injuries and was assessed on the scene by the Ambulance Service.
"The ride in question was closed throughout the entirety of Monday, 18 April to allow for additional checks to be carried out through an independent inspector.
The Council will visit the ride again on Tuesday 19 April to obtain further reassurances that the ride is safe to be operated."
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two fire engines from Moss Side and Withington had attended Platt Fields Park at around 4.15pm on Sunday afternoon. More information about the nature of the incident and any injuries have not yet been confirmed.
Greater Manchester Police, the North West Air Ambulance Charity and the fair operator have all been approached for further information.
