Air ambulance lands as man trapped at Colwick Industrial Estate

A huge emergency services response was called after reports of a person trapped in Nottinghamshire. Four ambulances and fire engines were among the services sent to Colwick Industrial Estate on Friday, October 14.

Crews from Carlton, London Road and the specialist rescue unit from Highfields Fire Station were were called out to Road No.4 of the estate at 9.50am on Friday (October 14). An air ambulance also landed at the scene.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a person was "trapped" in an incident at a business at the industrial estate.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 9.44am on October 14 to Colwick Industrial Estate in Nottingham. The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent the Hazardous Area Response Team and four paramedics in fast response cars. The air ambulance is also in attendance and we are currently still on scene.”

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue added: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at a persons trapped incident on Road No. 4, Colwick Industrial Estate. This is a multi-agency incident, and we were called at 9:50am. Carlton, London Road, and the Specialist Rescue Unit from Highfields Fire Station are in attendance."

It is understood the emergency crews have now left the scene.

It is understood the incident happened at Maxi Readymix concrete. Nottinghamshire Live contacted the company but a spokesperson declined to comment at this stage.

Owner of nearby business Tiger European, Matt Golar, said it is understood the person involved is "trapped at the back of a lorry". The air ambulance landed on the site of his business.

He said: "We had to receive the helicopter and we waved at him to say he could land here. “It’s the second time in 40 years. - [we] had a helicopter land in 1978."
