Aiden McGeady makes Hibs injury return as Josh Campbell strikes in Rangers warm-up vs Raith Rovers

Aiden McGeady marked his return from long-term injury as Hibs picked up a confidence boosting friendly win ahead of facing Rangers next week.

Lee Johnson has been without his marquee summer signing for the majority of the season with the Celtic star spending an extended period on the sidelines after picking up an injury not long after putting pen to paper at Easter Road. But the former Sunderland man made his long-waited return for the final half an hour against Raith Rovers in the capital to hand his boss a major boost ahead of the season resuming.

Star striker Kevin Nisbet has also picked up more crucial top team minutes after an extended time out and will be in contention and desperate to face Rangers at Ibrox next midweek under the lights as the Premiership makes its return from the World Cup shutdown. The Hibees faced a slump in terms of results before the break but this win over the Scottish Championship side will do them no harm ahead of that trip to Glasgow.

Josh Campbell scored the only goal at a frosty Easter Road with just five minutes on the clock with a strong home side selected from the off in this one. The hosts made a host of changes at the break and into the second period as they ran out 1-0 winners.

Veteran keeper David Marshall has spoken of his desire to finish in the European places this season on numerous occasions - with a big second half of the season to come. The Leith men trail Aberdeen in third spot by five points having played a game more than Jim Goodwin's men.

Before the year is out, Hibs will come up against Rangers, Livingston and Celtic before an Edinburgh derby clash with Hearts on January 2. They rivals also meet in the Scottish Cup fourth round early next year as the domestic game returns with a bang.
