Aiden McGeady might have played his last game for Hibs after being ruled out for the season.
The former Celtic star suffered a hamstring injury against Kilmarnock two weeks ago and there were immediate fears that it could be serious for the 36-year-old and now these fears have been realised.
McGeady joined from Sunderland in the summer and has played 14 times for the Hibees. He only singed a one-year deal so it is unclear what will happen once the Republic of Ireland internationalist recovers but Easter Road boss Lee Johnson says they have a duty of care.

He said: “Aiden will be seeing another specialist shortly and that will determine whether or not he needs surgery.
“He will be out for a minimum of four months, and potentially six months. It’s really disappointing for us and really disappointing for him, but it’s our job to nurse him back to full fitness.”
Hibs haven’t had their troubles to seek on the injury front this season with Martin Boyle ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after tearing his ACL in October, Kevin Nisbet only returning from 10 months out with a similar injury in December and Kyle Magennis, Jake Doyle-Hayes, Rocky Bushiri and Harry McKirdy all spending extended spells out.
There was some positive news on the injury front for Hibs, with strikers Mykola Kukharevych and Kevin Nisbet set to return from their respective lay-offs for Saturday’s cinch Premiership trip to Livingston.
On-loan Troyes forward Kukharevych has not featured since the last game before the World Cup, while Nisbet – who scored eight goals in nine games prior to his latest setback – has been out since suffering a hamstring injury against Ross County at the end of January.
“Both played in a practice game, where they had 60 minutes behind closed doors and both have trained for two full weeks,” said Johnson, whose side have moved up to fourth in the table after collecting 10 points from their last four games.
