Aiden McGeady has revealed he's heard whispers that Kieran McKenna could be being lined up to become Celtic's next manager.
The Hoops are aware that current boss Martin O'Neill is reflecting on his own future following three defeats on the spin including two against rivals Rangers where they were comfortably second best.
The club remain top of the Scottish Premiership but questions remain regarding O'Neill's fight for the job and his desire to endure the stress and anxiety as a 74-year-old.
Either way the Northern Irishman is not the long-term plan which means Celts will have to broaden their horizons eventually. And former winger McGeady has hinted that he has been told former Ipswich Town gaffer McKenna could be the man for the job.
“I have heard Kieran McKenna is also lined up for next year. I heard that," McGeady said on Open Goal during his punditry duties.
“People were saying that to me; I was like, ‘Kieran McKenna was on £6million a year at Ipswich.’”
McKenna has been out of action as a manager since opting to take time away from the game after leaving the Tractor Boys. But he could be tempted to make a comeback should Dermot Desmond come calling.
