AI versus women: the artist showing how tech 'corrects' female bodies

Miss Great Britain, oil on canvas (24” x 48”) - (Gretchen Andrew)

What does AI think we look like? Well, not quite right actually. In need of a bit of tune-up around the face and some slicing and accentuating around the body. Humans are not as perfect as they should be, so the machines say, and particularly women.

This is the disturbing truth which Gretchen Andrew explores in her work. This Utah-born artist has been working in London for ten years, mostly in computers, and this had fed into her first major exhibition at the new Hope 93 gallery in Fitzrovia. Facetune Portraits: Universal Beauty, is a witty, engaging and deeply chilling show which is already making a stir.
