AHMEDABAD Prison

AHMEDABAD: Five guards of the Sabarmati Central Jail allegedly held a 24-year-old prisoner against a tree inside the prison and assaulted him with sticks till he fainted — all the while hurling casteist abuses at him. The victim belongs to a Scheduled Caste community.

The assault on Pratap Dhawal, 24, is said to have occurred on Monday night. Dhawal has been lodged in the jail since June 2016 along with four family members in connection with a murder case.
