AGRA: To enhance the security of Taj Mahal from its rear side facing Yamuna river, Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has decided to replace the existing barbed wire fencing with a wire mesh and concertina coils on the top, in nearly 300 meters of area around the monument.
Confirming the development, ASI’s superintending Archeologist (Agra circle) R K Patel said that existing barbed wire fencing, which was installed almost 15 years ago, is damaged and broken. “As desired by security agencies —state and CISF, iron mesh fencing supported with iron angles is being installed along with a concertina coil on the top,” he said.
