PATNA: The first-ever examination for the recruitment in Indian Air Force (IAF) through the Centre’s new Agnipath scheme started at 26 centres in five districts of Bihar on Sunday amid tight security.
The candidates appeared for the online examination at 13 centres in Patna. Apart from Patna, exams were held at Chhapra, Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur.
Anticipating protests, the state police headquarters had issued an alert ahead of the examination that was conducted in three shifts of two hours each from 7.30am to 6pm. Adequate number of magistrates and security personnel were deputed at the examination centres to avoid any untoward incident.
Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon said an alert has been issued in all the districts where the exams are being conducted. “Police personnel have been deputed to keep agitators at bay. The exams passed off peacefully at all the centres on the first day,” he added.
The candidates found the physics section tricky and complicated while mathematics and English sections were moderate. Naveen Kumar, a resident of Chhapra who appeared for the exam in Patna, said he had prepared for the exam well. “Most questions in physics were formula-based,” he added.
Sonu Kumar, an examinee from Nawada, said, “Physics questions were quite tricky and lengthy. I managed to solve only 15 questions. I left several questions because of negative marking of 0.25. Questions in mathematics were formula-based. In English, we were asked to answer questions by reading paragraphs.”
Another examinee, Anuj Gautam from Chandoli in Uttar Pradesh, was satisfied with his performance in the exam. “I have given my best. Now, everything depends on the cut off marks,” he said.
