Agnipath protests: Four policemen injured, two dozen protesters arrested in Motihari

MOTIHARI: Army aspirants disrupted rail and road traffic at several places and vandalized the window panes of Awadh-Bandra down express train near Chanmari railway crossing at Motihari.

East Champaran DM Shirshat Kapil Ashok and SP Kumar Ashish along with police force rushed to Bapudham- Motihari railway station, where hundreds of protestors were indulged in stone- pelting and vandalizing the station offices. The ticket-counter at platform number-2 was broken and smashed and a scooter was damaged by protestors.

The protestors, including anti-social elements, pelted stones, injuring 50 passengers, policemen and GRP personnel.

SP Kumar Ashish said four policemen, including SHO of town police station were injured in stone pelting and two dozen persons were arrested.

The trains affected by the agitation included Awadh-Bandra (down) express, Saptkranti (down) express, Mithila (down) express. These trains were stopped at 11.05 am and resumed operations at 4.30 pm.

The protestors also burnt tyres at railway track near Chandmari railway crossing in Motihari and disrupted the passengers.

Hundreds of protestors sat on tracks.

Bimal Kumar, who was staging dharna on rail track said, their demands include restoration of old army recruitment scheme and Tour of Duty (ToD) to be rolled back.
