Agnipath in best interest of nation’s young guns: Poonia

JAIPUR: BJP state president Satish Poonia on Monday said the Agnipath scheme has been launched considering the best interest of the youths and blamed vested interests for the protests.

Addressing journalists at the Meet the Press programme at the Pink City Press Club, Poonia said. “The scheme has been brought after much-needed thought to make the nation strategically strong. This is related to unemployment, youth, personal development and their future”.

Taking a dig at the chief minister Ashok Gehlot and his ministers camping in Delhi for Rahul Gandhi, he said it is unfortunate that the entire government is in Delhi leaving the state at the mercy of none. “I wish they had appointed or nominated somebody to take care of the state in their absence. This is the only government I have seen which spent more days camping either in hotels or in Delhi,” said Poonia.

Responding to Gehlot’s allegations of the BJP of instigating Hindus, Poonia said, “The BJP follows the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.”

Accusing the Congress of appeasement politics, he said it was Ashok Gehlot’s government that allowed PFI to take out a rally in Kota on the hijab issue.

He imposed Section 144 in 17 districts on Ram Navami and Hindu New Year. “It is they who create discrimination and impose it on us. So this is totally baseless against us,” Poonia said.

While raising the issue of law and order in the state, he said the Mewat region had turned into an epicentre of jihad due to the appeasement politics of the Congress.

“All kinds of jihad—land, love and cyber are flourishing in Mewat region against the Hindus with the support of the ruling Congress. BJP is a party of all and if atrocities are committed against the majority, we will raise the issue no matter whether the Congress likes it or not,” said Poonia.
