A man who bit a police officer during his arrest and then went on to smash car windows with a hammer and punch his sister has been jailed.
Cain Lebihan became aggressive towards officers when they turned up to a YMCA in Sunderland to arrest him on January 26 this year. The 21-year-old, who was wanted on a warrant, resisted arrest and ended up biting an officer's finger, drawing blood in the process.
Lebihan's offending continued into July this year, when he breached restraining orders and a suspended sentence by turning up to his mum's home and demanding help - despite being banned from being near her. When she refused, he began to cause damage to cars with a hammer before punching his sister in the head.

Lebihan, of no fixed address, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday via link from HMP Durham to be sentenced for assaulting an emergency worker, breach of a suspended sentence, breaching a restraining order, criminal damage, assault and a public order offence.
Ms Alistari, prosecuting, said the first offence was committed on January 26 this year when police officers were called to a YMCA youth hostel in Sunderland in order to arrest Lebihan on a warrant. But when the officers were shown to his room, Lebihan became "aggressive" and started threatening them. Ms Alistari said: "He became aggressive and was shouting abusive remarks and making threats. He resisted handcuffs and he bit the finger of an officer, drawing blood."
Months later, on July 20 this year, Lebihan carried out further offences, this time against family members. Ms Alistari said the defendant's relationship with his mother had become "strained" after he began taking drugs in 2016 and a restraining order had been imposed, banning contact with her and his sister.
The court heard that Lebihan breached another restraining order by going to a woman's home and asking for help, when she refused, he threatened to damage property before asking her to ring his mum and sister. He later left and turned up to his mum's home later that same evening.
Ms Alistari said Lebihan's mum had installed a doorbell camera on her home, and was aware he had been at her address three times while she was at work. But at around 11pm, he returned and began banging on her door, demanding help.
But when she refused, he "became angry" and he ripped the doorbell camera off. His mum came outside and he kicked over a gate post before "picking it up and swinging it around". His sister, who was also in the house, came out and began shouting at him, he then "punched her in the head" before smashing car windows with a hammer. He then threw the hammer off a wall.
Vic Laffey, defending, said Lebihan has "significant difficulties" and was to him a "very quiet and respectful young man who has the ability to deal with people on a respectable basis". He said at the time of the offences he had been "moved from one dreadful accommodation to another" and had "self harmed to a dreadful degree" in prison.
Sentencing Lebihan, Recorder Tom Little QC jailed him for 22 months.
