Agency offers glimpse of future food innovation

Participants explore a range of future food products at an event at THAIFEX - ANUGA ASIA 2023.

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is presenting a "Future Food Experience+" activity at the THAIFEX - ANUGA ASIA 2023 exhibition, promoting sustainable food innovation through brainstorming workshops, showcasing cutting-edge food innovations, and fostering connections with manufacturers.

"The concept of future food involves caring for the world through meals, while aiming to create food security and environmental sustainability," said Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, director-general of DITP.

"By using innovation, new raw materials are created for forms of food that help reduce environmental impact, have good taste and provide health benefits."

Future food is considered a global trend, and Thai future food product exports tallied 129 billion baht last year.

Participants at the event are provided with an opportunity to explore a range of future food products, including protein and alternative meat, clean-label foods, plant-based proteins, functional and free-form products, sustainable packaging, superfoods, future food technologies, and solutions for sustainable food systems.

In addition, there are special activities to generate interest among participants.

Future Food Experience+ at THAIFEX - ANUGA ASIA 2023 provides participants the opportunity to explore a range of future food products.

"Future Food Ideation" offers an opportunity to engage in brainstorming, using food design thinking techniques that stimulate deep thought.

Participants have a chance to taste future food menus created by experienced chefs using future food ingredients from startups and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Another activity is "Future Food System Synergies", which aims to enhance collaborative work and utilises techniques related to future food experiences and deep interactions to engage participants.

A networking event promotes collaboration among stakeholders in the field of future food.

Startups and leading companies in the sector can make presentations and foster connections for future collaboration at the event.

DITP prepared a future food market at the exhibition, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the world of future food. This zone showcases future food products from both Thai and international exhibitors, including plant-based foods, innovative food, alternative proteins, functional foods, natural ingredients and organic products.
