The number of patients stranded in Hunter hospitals waiting for aged care and NDIS placements has increased by more than 25 per cent in one year, as pressure continues to mount on the public system.
There were 138 people in public hospital beds across the district at the end of June 2025 who should have been either at home with support, or in an aged care bed.
