AG Blanche Still Won't Rule Out ICE at the Polls During Election Day — Why This Matters to Latino Voters

WASHINGTON, DC - AUGUST 12: U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche listens during a news conference at the Justice Department on August 12, 2026 in Washington, DC. Blanche held a news conference detailing a federal indictment charging 11 individuals for orchestrating a decade-long Chinese national marriage fraud scheme that produced over 1,000 sham marriages to subvert U.S. immigration laws. MIAMI — Midterm elections are less than three months away, and the country's top law enforcement official still won't rule out sending immigration agents near ballot boxes. Todd Blanche was confirmed as the 88th U.S. attorney general on Aug. 8 in a 50-49 Senate vote — one of the narrowest confirmations of a Trump cabinet pick to date — and he arrives at the job carrying nearly half a year of comments and non-answers on ICE at the polls. His formal nomination paperwork lists him as a resident of Florida, giving South Florida's Latino electorate a direct stake in how he handles the question.

A position he's never walked back
