The Club Championship came down to the final tournament of the event. Team Falcons entered the final weekend hoping to break a record by becoming the first club to win three consecutive EWC championships. They had every right to believe, having led the way with 4,600 points. Counting against them, though, was that they would be without Carl-Antoni "Carl Jr." Cloutier, a seven-time Trackmania World Champion who fell in the quarterfinals.

AG.AL chairman Le Kedeng kept it simple on stage after the win: "This is our third year coming to EWC, I remember in 2024 we were just at the gate, last year we came sixth, but this year, please tell me; who is the best team in the world?"

In terms of how far the industry itself has evolved, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan al Saud, Chairman of the Esports Foundation's Executive Committee, only had to point out the fact that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and French President Emmanuel Macron were both in attendance. EWC 2026 was the biggest edition of the tournament yet, and the first held outside Saudi Arabia. The previous two events took place in Riyadh but this time Paris was the host.

League of Legends attracted the biggest audience, reaching 4.3 million peak concurrent viewers. Moments that defined the event included Chile's 15-year-old Jaime "Craime" Bustos toppling not one but two former champions to become the youngest winner in EWC history, while Samy "dralii" Hajji became Rocket League's first three-time EWC champion.

While AG.AL's win looks like the kind of feel-good underdog story Hollywood makes movies about, it’s also a solid structural statement about what the Club Championship format rewards. For Team Falcons, the loss is going to hurt. After two straight championships, they took a lead into the final weekend and came so close to a record-breaking third championship in a row. Questions will be asked about whether their roster construction is optimized for the Club Championship's breadth.
