Good afternoon.

Ed Husic says he has “deep concerns” about the impending visit of Israel’s president, Isaac Herzog, saying it is hard to reconcile concepts of social cohesion with the 2023 image of the leader signing an artillery shell about to be dropped on Gaza.

Husic is the most high-profile Labor objector to the invitation to Herzog, which came in the wake of the Bondi terror attack. But he is not alone, with NSW Labor backbenchers set to attend a Sydney protest against Herzog’s visit in defiance of the NSW premier, Chris Minns, who opposes rallies.

Husic also criticised the finger-pointing by politicians after the Bondi attack and the relative silence following the bomb threat at an Invasion Day rally in Perth in a wide-ranging interview with Nour Haydar for the Full Story podcast.
