I'm going to be honest here, when I first heard that Hailey Bieber's Rhode skincare was coming to the UK, I wasn't that bothered, which is really saying something because I am a huge fan of Hailey's beauty tips and looks. The truth is, on paper I didn't think Rhode products looked like much. Initially comprising of a Peptide Glazing Fluid, Barrier Restore Cream and Peptide Lip Treatment, I wasn't sure I was really missing out on anything without them in my life. I'm a very hard-to-impress beauty editor, and I didn't feel as if these products delivered anything new. (If Hailey were to have launched a line of hair wax sticks to help achieve her signature slicked-back bun, I might have been more excited.)
Having said this, with every TikTok Hailey uploaded with her using Rhode skin products as a part of her make-up routine, the desire for me to try Rhode grew. I sensed the products weren't going to change my life but the want to try them took over. The way in which Hailey mixed them into her make-up and layered them into her routine to create natural-looking radiance just spoke to me. So, by the time the products arrived on my desk, I was desperate to get them on my face.
Upon launch, I committed to using every single one of the Rhode products for two weeks straight, applying every product every day—and I had more to say on the products than I thought I would. For starters, so many celebrity skincare lines have a sell, sell, sell attitude. They launch countless products which, inevitably, end up causing immense confusion. Rhode, however, launched three products only. When I spoke with Hailey just before the launch she told me, "I just wanted to create a tight edit of really great products—a great multi-use product, a great moisturiser and a great lip product." And it was refreshing to see such devotion to busting skincare confusion.
Beyond that, it's worth noting that all three of those launch products harness impressive ingredients. Peptides sit front and centre—helping to plump fine lines and improve general skin appearance. Other powerhouse ingredients, such as, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid also feature, helping to keep that all important skin barrier in check.
Since then, Hailey has launched more products into the Rhode line-up (including the viral and now iconic Rhode Lip Case). Each launch as been considered, timely and clearly not rushed. Whereas so many celebrity beauty brands push heaps of new products with every season, Rhode is doing things in a more refined way—only launching the products Hailey feels really passionately about when they're absolutely perfect. And perfect they are. From the new Pocket Blush (which, spoiler alert, is the best cream blusher I have ever tried) to the cult Peptide Lip Tints, every new launch from Rhode has truly impressed me.
But, of course, I want to offer some true journalistic insight into how the Rhode products actually fare when up against the hundreds of other skincare launches I try a year. And, most importantly, give you a definitive answer on whether or not they deliver skin like Hailey Bieber's. Here's my full (and brutally honest) review of every Rhode product.
How I tested Rhode skincare products
I tested every product from the initial Rhode line-up over a course of two weeks from the date they each launched, using each product every single day, just how Hailey does. I have followed her TikToks religiously and I know she uses the Peptide Glazing Fluid and Barrier Restore Cream morning and night, often mixing the Peptide Glazing Fluid in with her foundation, too. For the Peptide Lip Treatments, I tested all three scents throughout the day.
Since then, many of the original Rhode products have stayed in my routine, but every time a new product launched, I made sure to switch back to the full Rhode routine to give each one a proper test. For the newer Glazing Milk, I used it immediately after cleansing (with the Pineapple Refresh Cleanser) every morning, before applying the rest of my Rhode go-tos. And as for the newer colour products? Well, I intended to only test each shade of the Pocket Blushes and Peptide Lip Tints for a day or two each, but became so infatuated with them that I have ended up wearing them every day for the past three weeks, since I first got my hands on them. I tested each product against the below criteria:
- Does this product perform as it says it should?
- Is there another product out there that does it better?
- Can I see myself repurchasing this product?
- Does this product slot into my everyday routine seamlessly?
- Do I really think this product is good value for money?
So, here goes—a decisive answer as to whether or not Hailey Bieber's Rhode skin products are actually worth your time, energy and money.
Rhode Peptide Glazing Fluid Review
I have had many people reach out to me wanting to know what Rhode skincare products are worth their money and this is the one I say definitely is. Formulated with peptides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and marula oil, it's a hydrating powerhouse. I used it every day in the morning as a first step in my skincare routine and then mixed a couple of pumps into my foundation (a Chanel number that I know Hailey loves). It leaves the skin looking juicy, plump and undeniably healthy. Unlike so many other serums of its kind, it's not sticky in the slightest and doesn't leave skin looking shimmery or shiny—it's sort of perfect. Everything you apply over the top melts into it, and I genuinely believe this product is the secret to Hailey's natural-looking base. Truthfully, I don't think there's a product of its kind out there as good as this—and it's a real multitasker. I never want to be without it.
However, it is worth noting that I haven't continued to use this as a daily skincare serum. As someone with breakout-prone skin, the oils in this product prove too heavy for me, and I find myself needing something a little more active for everyday use. If your skin is dry or if it behaves itself, you can probably use this as a skincare step—I personally just prefer it as an addition to my make-up routine.
Rhode Barrier Restore Cream Review
On the other end of the spectrum, this is one Rhode product I haven't been reaching for so much since testing. It's not that it's bad at all. In fact, it's a really great fuss-free moisturiser. With those all important antioxidant peptides, hydrating squalane, nourishing shea butter and barrier-loving niacinamide, it makes for a fantastic day cream for those with normal to dry skin types. My issue with it is personal—I can't seem to find a place for it in my routine. The oily, acne-prone nature of my skin means I like to skip moisturiser in the morning, opting for a hydrating SPF instead. Using the Peptide Glazing Fluid, Barrier Restore Cream and an SPF daily is just too much for my skin. If, however, Rhode were to launch a sunscreen version of this cream, I'd very much be on board.
Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Review
This product now comes in four variations: Unscented, Watermelon Slice, Salted Caramel and the newer Rhode Vanilla. All variations are untinted and contain the same formula: peptides, shea butter, capuaçu and babassu. It promises to plump, soothe and fight dryness. As somebody with chronically dry lips, I can firmly say this product will not replace a hardworking lip balm—it's just not nourishing enough. Having said that, I still don't ever want to be without it. It's truly unlike any product I've ever tried, and the term 'glaze' describes it perfectly.
Like Hailey's iconic 'glazed donut' description, this product leaves your lips looking as though they've been glazed in a high-shine sugar syrup and plumped beyond belief. It's not as sticky as a gloss, but it doesn't have that water-like texture that slips off in seconds. Does it last all day? Absolutely not, but it lasts longer than a typically lip oil might. Is it a little sticky? Not in any way that annoys me (and I have very long hair). For those who don't like sickly sweet scents, opt for the unscented version. Personally, I've fallen head over heels for Salted Caramel, and I have been through several tubes since it launched.
Rhode Glazing Milk
I want to start by saying that I do like this product. As a skin essence, I have absolutely nothing against it. It is hydrating, it boosts glow and it doesn't upset my skin in the slightest. However, of every Rhode product out there I would say this is the one that I can safely say nobody needs. It is designed to be patting into the skin straight after cleansing, morning and night, before you apply any other skincare. If your skin is very dry, you'll likely understand its place in your routine better than I do.
For my oily skin, I just don't see the need for this extra step. For that reason, I skipped using it at night entirely, and instead only used it in the morning as a means for getting some extra glow out of my make-up. However, I personally believe it's the Glazing Fluid that delivers the majority of this glow, and this milk just gives it a little leg-up. It is, actually, the only Rhode product I haven't continued to use since it launched. Although, I have kept the bottle on my shelf in case I ever find my skin crying out for some extra calming nourishment.
Rhode Pineapple Refresh Daily Cleanser
Upon first introduction to this cleanser I was worried it would be too abrasive and acidic for its advised daily use, but I was very wrong. I absolutely adore this stuff. With the pineapple enzymes working to gently exfoliate, green tea extract to deliver soothing antioxidant protection and polyglutamic acid for next-level hydration, it is an absolute powerhouse of a cleanser.
The gel-like texture lathers into a hardworking foam and skin isn't left feeling overly tight or stripped upon rinsing it off. However, I would like to point out here that I don't use it in the morning, only in the evening. My skin (and I'm sure most people's) doesn't require a really deep cleanse first thing, so I prefer to use a gentle formula with no actives first thing, leaning on this stuff in the evening, instead, to rid pores of the day's dirt.
Rhode Peptide Lip Tint
While the Peptide Lip Treatments are good, these tinted versions are even better. In fact, I'd go as far as saying they are my favourite lip product of 2024—and potentially ever. They have a sheeny, silky finish, just like that of the treatments, but deliver a beautiful wash of pigmented colour, too. If you aren't sure on any of the Rhode skincare items and aren't a huge make-up person, this is the only product you need be concerned with—trust me. My favourite shade? The new limited-edition Salty Tan, a brown-toned nude that goes with any look.
Rhode Pocket Blush
I have saved the most recent, and in my opinion, best Rhode product until last. These blush sticks are, without a shadow of a doubt, the most beautiful, stunning, perfect blushers in existence. The cream formula slides onto skin with a serious punch of pigment, but it blends out so effortlessly and seamlessly onto skin that my jaw literally dropped the first time I tried them.
Unlike so many other blushers out there, they deliver a lit-from-within-glow without relying on shimmer or excessive oil—but they aren't matte, either. The pigment sheers out with fingers and leaves a flush over the cheeks that radiates total skin health. They last for an impressively long time and the shade range is absolute perfection—leaving something for every look, from a sunkissed tan to a vibrant pop of coral. If I'm being really picky, I'd say the packaging could have less plastic, but I actually really like the way they look and feel in the hand. Final score? 10/10.
