Amid the NEET controversy and days after the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination, Bihar’s Teacher Eligibility Test has been cancelled by the state examination board, citing “unavoidable circumstances”.
The TET examination, scheduled to be held between June 26 and June 28, was cancelled by the Bihar School Examination Board. The state government recruits primary, secondary and higher secondary school teachers in Bihar through the examination.
The TET postponement comes amid protests over paper leak allegations related to the UGC-NET and NEET examinations. The NET was cancelled ahead of the June 18 examination over the education ministry saying its “integrity had been compromised”. Meanwhile, the NEET controversy erupted after irregularities were reported in its results announced on June 4.
As many as 67 NEET examinees scored full marks and two students scored statistically “impossible” marks. The National Testing Agency, which conducted the exam, defended itself, saying that “grace marks” were given to over 1,500 students in six centres due to loss of exam time. But now, the Supreme Court has asked the centre to probe the matter, while the government has said a high-level committee will recommend improvements in the NTA.
