A Reddit user accidentally sparked a fruit-related movement after sharing that they were reprimanded for taking a banana to-go from the Delta Sky Club in Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), USA.
Taking to the platform, user Zaftpunjab wrote: “I got reported for trying to take a banana out of the lounge! Someone tell me this is all a nightmare and my $700 a year isn’t a complete waste. I just wanted a banana.”
According to the user, when they asked whether they could put the fruit in their bag so no one could see it, the Delta worker responded, “You’ve already been reported, and I need to confiscate the banana and throw it away.”
Zaftpunjab continued: “I said, ‘What?’ She said, ‘Yeah, it has to be thrown away now.’ I almost started crying. I was so hungry and late.”

The airline’s house rules indicate that “food and beverages may not be removed from any Delta Sky Club.”
However, some Delta Sky Clubs’ candy areas have to-go bags and ceramic and paper coffee cups with lids are available, suggesting the coffee and tea are also intended to be taken away, as per LiveAndLetsFly.
While the passenger acknowledged that the employee was “just doing her job,” the post sparked a wave of petty banana thefts across Delta lounges, with many flyers sharing photos of their stolen fruits.
Taking to Reddit, user Apprehensiveduckx shared a picture of a banana, writing, “I made sure they saw me take it.”
“Found a banana available in the MSP F/G Sky Club bathroom stall. Apologies to the other folks in the bathroom for the random laughing you might have heard from me,” another person wrote.

“Just spotted at MSP,” a third person joked, sharing a seemingly AI-generated picture of a man getting busted seconds before he could take a bite out of his banana.
Another participant of the revolt wrote, “Y’all had me scared and feeling like I was shoplifting when I walked out of the SkyClub. Staff midway to the exit were eyeing me, and the agents at the exit were eyeing me. I was starting to worry I was going to be stopped and frisked for additional snacks, and then I would get kicked out.”
As they revealed, they made it out successfully. They even managed to grab a few napkins without getting told off.

In a post titled “United Banana Bonanza,” somebody else announced they were “cheating” on Delta with United.
“Sure, the United Club is small, cramped, and crowded, but hey – look at all the bananas RIGHT BY THE DOOR!!!”
Another user, reporting from Salt Lake City, Utah, shared a photo of an orange display at the airport. “They don’t have bananas, but….”
A separate person shared a photo of a book titled “101 Things to Do With A Banana” by author B.A. Nana and wrote, “Update: I know where all the bananas are going…”
A perplexed user on the airline’s Subreddit simply asked, “What’s going on?”
“I don’t know why we’re posting pictures of bananas. And at this point, I’m too afraid to ask.”

In the original banana post, some people shared they had different experiences grabbing snacks from Delta Sky Club lounges.
“Literally was at MSP today and took a banana to go…. Wtf!” someone commented.
“An employee at the Sky Club in ATL saw me putting some cheese and meat in a napkin, and he made me an entire charcuterie plate, wrapped it up, and brought it to me. (He did not ask me beforehand; he just did it),” another Redditor said.
“I was in the Sky Club yesterday and left about 11:30 am. I took a banana, orange, and a bag of popcorn with no issues. Concealed in my backpack,” somebody else wrote.
