Affordable homes could be built on Nottinghamshire football club pitch

An application to build 14 homes on a Sutton football club site has been made to address a "chronic demand" for affordable housing. Permission is being sought to build the houses on land which sits within the sporting grounds of Mansfield Athletic Football Club.

With access from Unwin Road, the site comprises two adult pitches and one mini football pitch, with limited car parking and a small pavilion also being based at the site. But one of the adult pitches has been assessed as being in a poor state.

It is this poor state pitch that would be the site of the proposed 14 homes and developers say that they would improve the club's other facilities if the application is approved. In its application to Ashfield District Council, the developers say: "There is clear need for wider improvements across the remaining playing fields, which will be made possible from the proposed development.
