Irish airline Aer Lingus will resume flights connecting Newcastle to the USA's biggest cities, and passengers can clear US Immigrations during their stopover in Dublin.
Dublin Airport benefits from US Preclearance "that allows US-bound passengers to undertake all US immigration, customs and agriculture inspections at Dublin Airport" so they can avoid lengthy immigration queues when they arrive in the USA. Passengers flying from Newcastle International Airport can connect at Dublin and clear US security there, after their one-hour flight from Tyneside to Ireland.
Aer Lingus says: "The benefit is that having cleared US Pre Clearance, passengers arriving in the US are treated as domestic arrivals, allowing them to avoid immigration queues upon arrival and pick up their bags and go."

Aer Lingus launches the routes from Newcastle to the likes of New York, Boston, Orlando, Philadelphia and Washington via Dublin on Thursday April 15.
Bill Byrne, Aer Lingus Executive Vice-President US, said: “Aer Lingus is excited to announce the resumption of a number of exciting US destinations this summer as we build back our connectivity to the US, connecting people from Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and London on to North America via Dublin.
“With the convenience of US Customs and Immigration pre-clearance at Dublin and Shannon, time spent connecting through both airports provides customers with a speedier journey overall as you arrive in the US as a domestic customer."
