Aengus Mac Grianna becomes the latest celebrity voted off Dancing With The Stars

RTE newsreader Aengus Mac Grianna signed off for the final time as he was voted off Dancing With The Stars.

Aengus and his pro dance partner Emily Barker failed to impress audiences with their quickstep to Billy Joel’s ‘All Shook Up’.

Earlier in the night, the pair showed off their fun side with the dance, with judge Loraine Barry said he was "totally in the zone and in your element", saying she saw "twinkle toes" coming alive.

"I think this is a good jive for you tonight," she said.

Arthur Gourounlian said Aengus "danced your socks off", while Brian Redmond said it was "athletic, agile and light on your feet".

But despite the judges heaping praise on Aengus, he became the third celebrity to be voted off the show.

But Aengus laughed and told host Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne he wasn't surprised.

"I've had a fantastic time," he said.

But he revealed he would've dedicated next week's dance to Anne Doyle if he had stayed in the competition.

Erica Cody was up first dancing the sultry rumba with her pro dance partner Denys Samson to Alicia Keys Girl on Fire.

The singer scored her first ten last Sunday and judge Loraine said it was an "outstanding rumba", while Arthur said it was "hot".

She scored an impressive 26 points from the judges.

Pro cyclist Nicolas Roche showed off his hip action - and bare chest - as he danced the samba with his pro dance partner Karen Byrne.
Nicolas danced his second Latin routine of the season, a samba, to Fantasy by Earth, Wind and Fire.

But Brian said that after gliding around the ballroom floor last Sunday, he seemed to have a "bit of a puncture" this Sunday, while Loraine said his technical dancing was "way off the mark".

Nicolas scored 15 points from the judges.

Aslan's Billy McGuinness was elevated after he received widespread praise for his quickstep, which was danced to ‘A Town Called Malice’ by The Jam, with pro dance partner Hannah Kelly, scoring 18 points, with Loraine saying "for a man of 61, you are so agile".

Missy Keating and her dance partner Ervinas Merfeldas showed off their dark side with the dark tango to the song, Prisoner, a Miley Cyrus track, which scored them 22 points.

But Brian said it was a tango of two halves for him, saying it was a "swan of a tango".

Love Island star Matthew MacNaab, who danced the salsa to ‘X’ by the Jonas Brothers feat. Karol , was told to loosen up by Arthur, with Brian saying his dancing "wasn't great" joking he should've put more lifts into the dance to hide the lack of dancing.

But his pro dance partner Laura Nolan said afterwards she was "proud" of Matthew as she revealed she tore a muscle in her toe and tore a capillary during practice during the week.

The couple scored a total of 14 points.

National Hunt jockey Nina Carberry showed off her cheeky side as she danced the cha-cha with her pro dance partner Pasquale La Rocca, to the dance ‘If the World Just Danced’ by Diana Ross, with Brian saying "it was an absolute blast from start to finish".

And even though she made a minor mistake in her dancing, Loraine said it was a "tremendous effort".

She scored 21 points.

Paralympian Ellen Keane and Stephen Vincent scored an impressive 27 points for their contemporary dance to ‘We are Beautiful’ by Unsecret X Lyra, which she said was a special performance.

Brian said he totally understood why she danced, saying her whole performance was "beautiful".

Loraine said she felt her performance was "emotional" and it had a heartfelt message to it.

TV star Graine Seoige and John Nolan took on the American Smooth, dazzling the judges with their routine. They danced to ‘Cheek To Cheek’ by Ella Fitzgerald.

The presenter was left injured last week but appeared to have bounced back on Sunday night.

Brian said it was great to see her back to full health, saying it was her "best dance yet", while Arthur said she had picked herself up.

The pair scored a total of 19 points.

Rugby Sevens star Jordan Conroy and Salome Chachua closed the show with their powerful Paso Doble, scoring 27 points.

They closed the celebrity performances with a moody paso doble to ‘Paint it Black’ by Escala.

Speaking afterwards, Loraine said it was a "bold and powerful" dance from the Tullamore native, with Brain saying "as far as paso doble's go, that was as butch as a builders breakfast".
