Adorable puppy found in cardboard box is desperately searching for new home

After being dumped in a cardboard box and left to die, this little puppy has begun her search for a home where she will be loved unconditionally.

Five-month-old Tilly was taken in by Barking Mad Dog Rescue, who rehome Romania's unwanted dogs in the UK, with her litter siblings when she was just six-weeks-old.

Sadly for Tilly, all of her sisters have now left the shelter with their new families, leaving her to wonder why nobody wants to take her home.

Founder of Barking Mad Dog Rescue, Hilary Anderson said: "Tilly and her sisters came to us after being found them abandoned, dumped in a cardboard box.

"They were only about six-weeks-old and had been left to die without their mum - poor babies. They were brought to safety at the Nisipari village house and have been thriving ever since."

Although Tilly's breed is currently unknown, it is thought she will grow to be a medium-sized dog - somewhere between a collie and a springer spaniel.

Hillary added: "Tilly is a sweet, friendly little girl who gets along with other dogs in shelter. Tilly will need a home with a friendly, confident adult dog to learn from and lots of opportunities to play and socialise."

Tilly is currently living in a rescue shelter in Romania - but will be flown over to the UK once the right owners have been found.

Hilary, from Scotland, launched Barking Mad Dog Rescue after rescuing her dog Pixie following a Facebook appeal.

She said: “Pixie lived in a park in Bucharest, with her mum, brother and six other dogs.

“They were fed, vaccinated and neutered by a woman who wanted to help the park strays.

“The pack survived the best way they could. Winters were harsh. Their guardian built them a kennel and locals smashed it to pieces.”

But their lives changed in 2013 when new laws came in ordering strays to be rounded up and killed.

“Pixie, like many others, found herself in a privately-owned shelter.

"Although safe from the dog catchers, Pixie had lost everything else - her freedom and her life. She stopped eating and couldn’t get used to life behind bars.

”In desperation, the woman who had cared for Pixie in the park posted her on Facebook asking for someone to take her away from Romania and give her the home she deserved.”

Hilary answered this plea and ended up adopting Pixie alongside two other dogs, Elsa and Kirsty, before starting up her own rescue.

The Barking Mad Dog Rescue team now return to Romania every two months to visit their own shelters in Constanta.
