A tiny baby L'Hoest's monkey was born at Edinburgh Zoo earlier this month.
Born to parents Sheli and Jamal, the adorable youngster was born on May 8. To celebrate the happy occasion, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) have shared an adorable video of the animal holding on to its mum.
The baby will receive its first health checks from expert vets at the wildlife conservation charity in the coming weeks. At that point, its gender will be identified and it will be named by keepers shortly after.
According to the RZSS, the little one is "still clinging on tight to mum but is doing extremely well and growing bigger and more confident every day". Visitors will be able to spot mum and baby with the rest of the group exploring their enclosure at Edinburgh Zoo.
Taking to Facebook, Edinburgh Zoo commented: "Meet our tiny new arrival. Sheli and Jamal have welcomed an adorable baby L'Hoest's monkey!
"We're not sure if we have a little boy or girl yet as the youngster is still clinging on tight to mum, but they are doing extremely well and will be named in the coming weeks. Lucky visitors will be able to spot Sheli and her baby exploring L'Hoest's Rock with the rest of the group."
Sheli and Jamal previously welcomed the newborn's older brother Butembo in 2020.
L'Hoest's monkeys are native to small areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. Babies are born with orange fur, which darkens to black at around three months old.
