Adele Roberts 'delirious' on Celebrity Bake Off after having chemotherapy during filming

Adele Roberts has revealed that she was undergoing chemotherapy during her time on Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ is now cancer-free following eight months of treatment last year, but was still battling the disease when she appeared on the Channel 4 show. Posting a sweet message on Instagram to her fellow famous faces in the tent, David Morrissey, Lucy Beaumont and Tom Daley, Adele said it "meant the world" to be on the show - but admitted that she "doesn't remember most of it" because of the chemo.

Describing the experience as "buckets of fun" on Instagram, the star said of her Bake Off episode: "Watching it back was so special. I was on chemotherapy during my time in the tent. I was overheating, delirious and very nervous!"

Adele, 44, was diagnosed with stage two bowel cancer in 2021, which lead to her having a tumour removed, undergoing chemotherapy treatment, and getting a stoma - a small opening in the abdomen used to remove body waste into a pouch. In an Instagram post last year showing off her stoma, she said: "Please show your friends, your children and your family what a stoma is and what it looks like.

"Thousands of people in the UK have a stoma and some of those people don’t feel comfortable enough to show theirs or even talk about it. I think lack of visibility is part of the problem. I hope this cover goes some way to helping those people feel seen, understood and hopefully leads to them one day rocking their stomas too!"

Back in January, the DJ admitted she was "super nervous" as she underwent surgery in the first step towards "hopefully getting her colon working again". She wrote on Instagram: "I think there'll be a few more surgeries for me this year... but do you know what, I'm just so happy they can help me and there’s hope. I might be able to go to the toilet the 'old fashioned way one day in the future."
