Adele said her long-awaited Las Vegas residency show was 'perfect' and 'looked just like how I imagined' as she kicked off the first night of her Weekends With Adele show at Caesars Palace hotel.
After admitting beforehand she'd 'never been more nervous', the singer, 34, took centre stage at The Colosseum theatre last night as eager fans finally got to see her in action following a 10-month delay.
UK rapper Stormzy was seen in the audience along with Adele's partner Rich Paul.
The Tottenham native received a standing ovation as she began her 24-show stint - originally set to take place at the same venue between January and April - though she joked to fans she should be giving them the applause instead after supporting her through some turbulent times.
“Thank you so much for coming back to me,” she told them.
“It looks just like I imagined it would, it’s just perfect, thank you.”
In her typically jokey manner, Adele continued: “I don’t get to go off stage for about 50 minutes so I’m going to have (a) s****y face of streaked makeup for the whole first part of the show.
“I’m so nervous and I’m so scared and I’m so happy.”
She added that the show “started small” before launching into her first song of the evening, a rendition of her 2015 number one single Hello, after which she received another standing ovation.
Adele announced the sudden postponement on her initial spell in Sin City back in January when she told her loyal fans the show was simply "not ready".
In a tearful upload at the time, she revealed it had been "absolutely destroyed" by delivery delays and coronavirus, saying her production team had tried "absolutely everything" to pull the show together in time but that it had been "impossible".
The Grammy Award-winning artist will perform each Friday and Saturday up to and including Christmas Eve before resuming her show for another 10 weekends from Friday January 20 to Saturday March 25 next year.
Fans swarmed to social media to give their glowing review to her opening night.
One fan wrote on Twitter : "I am incredibly proud of you @Adele i love you so much. That was the best show ever done."
Another said: "I hope you never lose that smile of yours cause you bring so much joy to a lot of people. You deserve all the happiness in the world and this opening night.
"Young Adele is so ... proud of who you are right now. Thank you for inspiring millions of people."
A third fan simply posted: "Adele wow wow and wow," while another commented: "Adele is a f*****g legend."
She said on Thursday night that she has "never been more nervous before a show in my career" as she shared a snap from rehearsals with her 50.2 million Instagram followers.
The mum-of-one got emotional as she received a standing ovation after gracing the stage for the first time in Las Vegas before admitting that "it might be a bit wobbly at times because my nerves are out of control" before belting out her 2015 number one hit Hello.
Adele went through her collection of hits from across her four studio albums with Easy On Me, I Drink Wine and Oscar-winning James bond theme song Skyfall among the ballads to hear by her adoring fans.
The visual effects matched the effortless vocals as the piano on stage was set alight as she sang Set Fire To The Rain, while polaroid photos of Adele fell to the floor like confetti during her live version of When We Were Young.
She walked into crowd during her performance of the latter single as she interacted and waved to her fans.
The 12-time Brit Award winner showed off her fun side during the show as she fired a T-shirt cannon into the audience for one lucky recipient to receive a signed T-shirt, a handwritten note and 50 US dollars, urging them to "go and get a drink" with the money.
Adele was emotional once again as she closed the show and thanked Caesars Palace hotel for the support show after the initial postponement and said she was "so honoured" to perform at the venue.
“I’d really like to thank Caesars because there has been a lot of s**t written about me since I cancelled my shows.
“I tell you 90% of it is absolutely completely made up, there’s been rumours that I’m moving hotels and I’m moving theatres and all this and never once did they ask (me) any questions.
“They have been amazing, so thank you so much for having me, Caesars. I’m so honoured to be here.”
Adele later declared she had “the best fans in the world” and thanked them after receiving waves of support for her decision to postpone.
Her new run is scheduled to take place from November 18 and run to March 25, with the 24 rescheduled shows as well as eight extra dates.
