Adele bans taking selfies with fans at Las Vegas residency over Covid fears

Adele is taking no chances when it comes to catching Covid-19 and as a precaution has announced that she will no longer be taking selfies with fans during her Las Vegas residency.

The Hello hit-maker’s decision follows an outbreak of the virus at Caesars Palace where her residency is and the London-born star has admitted that it has left her “hanging on for dear f***ing life” to the shows going, with friends and crew members “dropping like flies”.

It means she has axed a regular section of her gigs which saw her pose with fans for selfies.

She has also ditched her walk through the audience, which would see her greeting and hugging her fans as she sang When We Were Young.

Her goal is to avoid having to postpone any shows, which would make her fans “f***ing p***ed off”.

As reported by the MailOnline, she told the crowd: “Normally I would absolutely stop and chat and all of that and I’m hear all about your life and be the nosey person that I am. However, I hanging on by thread trying not to get Covid.”

The superstar went on to reveal that her backing singer Amanda has missed shows after testing positive, and “it’s a miracle” Adele herself hasn’t been struck down.

“And I really do love chatting to you, but I don’t want to get sick, I’ll take selfies from a distance or shoot your vid,” she added.

“I might have symptoms and then I can’t do my show and I will be damned if I cancel any more of these shows. I refuse to cancel any shows.”

She then said that her “immune system is in the gutter”, and while she wants to “be close” to her fans, she simply “can’t risk getting ill”.

She continued: “I am a germaphobe, so I might be being dramatic. But they do all have COVID. But I use hand gel a lot. Like If I meet someone, I’m like, ‘Hi, it’s so nice to meet you.’ And then there’s hand gel in my hand.”

While she admits that she has “always” been that way, she is determined to keep things going after hitting her 50th show of the residency earlier this month.

“I got the flu in my last break two days after my final show, and I was thrilled. I don’t mind getting the flu in my break. I don’t mind getting sick in my break,’ she said, pointing out she has nine weeks left.

“Dunno if you heard, but like a year and a half ago, I had to cancel the first leg. So getting to 50 was like a dream. So I’m so thrilled.”
