An Adelaide man has died in a rock-climbing accident in Canada.
Daniel Heritage, 28, was killed last Wednesday, October 5, in what his sister-in-law Jess Bartel described as a "tragic accident" while climbing near Canmore, in Alberta's Rocky Mountains.
He and his wife, Emma, were seven months into a holiday in Canada.
"The death was very traumatic for Emma as she witnessed the accident and held him in her arms as he passed," Jess Bartel wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for a relative to travel to Canada to help Emma.
Ms Bartel's father joined Emma in Canada this morning, she said in a message to the ABC.
So far, the GoFundMe page has raised more than $25,000.
"As Emma is still in Canada (currently staying with friends she met on her travels), we desperately desire to send up a family member from Australia to be with her to support her in her grief and to help bring her and her husband home," Ms Bartel wrote.
Mr Heritage worked as a scientist, engineer and business consultant, according to his LinkedIn page.
"Over the next 12-24 months, I will be taking time to pursue hobbies and passion projects that I haven't previously had the opportunity," he wrote on LinkedIn in March.
The ABC has contacted Australia's consulate in Vancouver for comment.
