Adam Thomas returns to Waterloo Road alongside real-life niece as he shares sweet snap

Adam Thomas delighted fans earlier this year when he revealed he was returning to his old stomping ground.

And now he's delighted them further by sharing the first glimpse of his Waterloo Road comeback.

Fans of the BBC series will remember Adam for playing the original bad boy, Donte Charles.

His character didn't have the easiest of times, including causing the death of his best friend Adam Deardon.

Realising the error of his ways, Donte soon embarked on a relationship with Chlo Grainger which saw them get married.

And the good news is that Adam is returning to Waterloo Road alongside Katie Griffiths, who plays Chlo, and they have their daughter in tow.

It was revealed last month that their daughter, Izzy, who they left with during series four in 2009, will actually be played by Adam's real-life niece.

Scarlett Thomas has bagged her first major TV role and is following in her parent's footsteps who just so happen to be Coronation Street stars Ryan Thomas and Tina O'Brien.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Adam shared a selfie alongside Scarlett as they got to do their first scene together.

The beaming uncle said: "My very first day back @waterlooroad …not only was it my first day, but it was my first scene with my lil niece @scarlettjthomas26.

"Am just in awe of this girl, could watch her all day every day! …can not wait for you guys to see her in action!"

He added: "What a special day. Waterloo road is back."

Scarlett left a comment, agreeing with her uncle. She said: "What an amazing day."

Adam's older brother Ryan wrote: "Haha brilliant," before sharing the photo to his own Instagram Story and commenting: "Go on guys!!!"

The former Emmerdale star also shared a few behind-the-scenes snaps from his first day of filming.

One picture featured his character's name on his dressing room door and the other appeared to show him sat in a car with a Waterloo Road clapperboard getting ready to be used right in front of him.

Filming for the new series began in Greater Manchester last month.

It marks a return to the city after moving to Scotland a number of years ago.

Kym Marsh and Angela Griffin are also among the big names cast in the school drama's comeback.
