Emmerdale favourite Adam Thomas has spoken about a rumoured return to the soap.
Adam Thomas, 34, will soon be back on our screens in BBC’s revival of school-based drama Waterloo Road. The actor is reprising his role as Donte Charles.
In a conversation with OK!, Adam discussed whether he’d ever return to Emmerdale and it turns out we nearly saw him in the soap as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations earlier this year. Adam explained: “They asked me and Danny Miller to go back for the 50th anniversary but unfortunately I was busy doing this (Waterloo Road) and we couldn’t make it work.

“But, listen, I would always love to go back one day. Emmerdale will always be a huge part of my life. I learned so much and I met some amazing people. For now, I want to see where this takes me. But never say never.”
We’ve previously reported, Adam talking about facing financial uncertainty following his exit from Emmerdale in 2018. Adam, who took a step back from acting to focus on business enterprises after leaving Emmerdale, said: “Ever since I left Emmerdale, I’ve been going from job to job, not knowing necessarily where my next pay cheque is coming from. It’s tough and it’s a lot to take on. I think this job (the Waterloo Road return) has helped a lot because it’s just brought stability into our lives.
“It was a year’s contract and I knew what money I was getting. I felt like I could breathe. But now I’m like, ‘what am I doing next?’. I find it quite tough to be present and try and enjoy as much as I can instead of thinking about what’s coming next.”
Elsewhere, Emmerdale executive producer Jane Hudson has teased a possible return for a former villager but wouldn’t reveal who.

Discussing a possible 2023 storyline, Jane said: “I can’t tell you because I’m still checking. We are doing June storylines and I had an idea the other day and thought ‘ahhhhh, our viewers would love that’.”
