If the look of yesterday’s injury report was bad for the Carolina Panthers, then it got a bit worse this afternoon.
Wide receivers DJ Chark and Adam Thielen were both held out of Thursday’s practice, just three days ahead of theie season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. This is the second session in a row Chark has missed while Thielen, who was listed as limited in the first outing, was downgraded on the report.

Chark spoke about his Week 1 status to reporters at his locker prior to the practice session. He stated that the decision to play will be up to the training staff.
“It’s up to them,” he said, via Carolina Blitz. “They either let me go out there or they’re gonna hold me for a week. So I just have to see what they’re thinking. But I feel good and the plan is to continue to progress and play some ball.”
Other than that pair of veterans, the Panthers have Marshall Jr., Smith-Marsette, Jonathan Mingo and Laviska Shenault Jr. at the position. They can also turn to practice squad members Derek Wright and/or Dezmon Patmon, especially with two open spots on their current active roster.
