Adam Strachan funeral details announced after former Scots footballer's sudden death at 35

The funeral details have been announced for Scots footballer Adam Strachan after he died suddenly aged just 35 earlier this month.

Tributes flooded in for the former Partick Thistle midfielder after he was discovered dead on Saturday July 9. Adam, from Maryhill, started his senior career at Firhill in 2004 and played for several clubs in the junior and senior ranks including Albion Rovers, Clyde, Arbroath, Ross County and Clydebank.

Heartbroken friends, family and many of his former clubs took to social media to pay their respects since the news of the young dad's death emerged. Partick Thistle have now announced funeral details and his family have asked fans to attend, reports Glasgow Live.

A statement from the club read: "The family of Adam Strachan has asked the club to advise fans of the arrangements for Adam’s funeral on Monday 1st August Adam’s cortege will stop at Firhill at 9:30am to allow Adam a final visit to Partick Thistle. The funeral mass will take place at 10am at St Teresa of Lisieux church, 86 Saracen Street, Glasgow, G22 5AD then on to St Kentigern’s Cemetery, Tresta Road, Glasgow G23 5EE.

"All Thistle fans are welcome to be part of this day to honour and celebrate Adam’s life."

Strachan also played for East Kilbride (East Kilbride News)

Making his Jags debut towards the end of the 2003/04 Premier League season, Strachan went on to make 111 appearances in red and yellow before having a nomadic career in the lower leagues.

Firhill chief executive Gerry Britton said earlier this month: "It really is horrendous news and first and foremost our thoughts are with Adam’s family and those closest to him.

"It is of course sad and frustrating that he was unable to achieve his full footballing potential but other stories are for another time. Rest in peace, Adam, you were one of a kind.”
