Adam Forshaw draws key Leeds United positive to come out of Man United defeat

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw believes that his side can take confidence from their second-half setback despite falling to a 4-2 defeat against Manchester United.

Despite a positive start from the Whites, it was Ralf Rangnick's side went into half-time with a two-goal lead thanks to Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes.

However, Leeds came out on the front foot and pulled one back through Rodrigo's looping cross, before Raphinha tapped home to complete the comeback.

This gave the Whites some optimism that they could go on to win the game, but the visitors had other ideas as Fred and Anthony Elanga struck to earn the win at Elland Road.

It was a determined performance from the Whites, who didn't give up and Forshaw played an important part in setting the tempo from midfield with his energy and pressing.

The 30-year-old has generated plenty of praise for his display and he delivered his verdict on the game, claiming that they showed 'a lot of fight' to score twice in a minute.

He told LUTV: "It was intense, the conditions weren't great but we gave ourselves a fighting chance coming out second-half and we really rallied. But unfortunately it wasn't to be in the end.

"We had quality off the bench with the lads who came on, they really added something and we stuck at it. We knew even if it went to the last 10 minutes with a two-goal decifit, we were still in the game. We proved that we could score two in quick succession, but unfortunately it was just tired legs at the end."

"It's too raw after a game to analyse, but they've got world-class players everybody knows that. Like you said, we showed a lot of fight and can take a lot of confidence from it."

Leeds will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.
