Actress Vanessa Hudgens set to star in documentary about learning witchcraft

Vanessa Hudgens is due to star in a documentary about witchcraft.

The actress will star in Dead Hot: Season Of The Witch alongside her close friend GG Magree.

During the show they will learn about witchcraft, ghost hunting and other supernatural disciplines.

The documentary is due to run for 90 minutes and has been described as an 'intimate journey into the supernatural realm.'

President of Bunim-Murray Productions, who is producing the documentary, Julie Pizzi said that Vanessa and GG have been interested in witchcraft for many years.

According to Variety, she said: "They’ve been doing little spells since they were kids, and they were just really interested in that world."

Both GG and Vanessa are described as self-taught students of witchcraft.

They have been experimenting and connecting with the spirit world for a large portion of their lives.

The pair realised they wanted proper mentorship and training when they had an experience in Northern California which somehow didn't go very well.

That’s when the close friends set out on a pilgrimage to Salem for a masterclass in witchcraft which is when they brought the cameras along to record their journey.

It's reported that on one day of filming the duo turned up in sweatshirts that said 'I’m A Witch' and another day, they wore matching jackets that said 'Creepers'.

Originally, the documentary was supposed to be more focused on ghost hunting but as filming got underway, it started to be more spiritual based.

Pizzi explained: "They’re so into it. As we got to know them, we realized that their curiosity in connecting with the spirit realm and paranormal and supernatural exploration was so much deeper than ghost hunting. It’s an exploration in the spiritual realm. It’s a lot about self love, and them finding their inner strength and power."

The project has been described as The Craft meets The Simple Life, but is still 'entertainment first'.

Pizzi added: "It’s entertainment first, but there’s a real, personal, spiritual journey that they both have together. It’s so emotionally raw that it really created such a beautiful narrative. It’s a lot about female empowerment."

Vanessa has talked about her fascination with the supernatural world in the past.

During an appearance earlier this year on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Hudgens spoke about the paranormal experiences she said she’s had since she was a child, and revealed that she talks to ghosts.

She said: "I’ve accepted the fact that I see things and I hear things. The unknown is scary, but I recently was like, 'No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I’m going to lean into it.'"
