Actor joins White Lotus after Helena Bonham Carter’s departure

  • Laura Dern has been cast in the upcoming fourth season of HBO's The White Lotus, following Helena Bonham Carter’s sudden departure.
  • Helena Bonham Carter departed the series shortly after filming commenced in France, with HBO saying that the character created for her “did not align once on set”.
  • Dern's casting reunites her with The White Lotus creator Mike White, with whom she previously co-created and starred in the HBO series Enlightened from 2011 to 2013.
  • The fourth season is currently being filmed on the French Riviera, with locations including Cannes, St Tropez, and Monaco, and will feature a new group of wealthy hotel guests during the Cannes Film Festival.
  • The ensemble cast for the new season also includes notable actors such as Steve Coogan, Rosie Perez, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, and Kumail Nanjiani.
