Activists in court for taking lambs from King’s Sandringham estate

  • Animal rights activists Rosa Sharkey, Sarah Foy, and Rose Patterson are on trial at Norwich Crown Court denying the theft of three lambs from King Charles’ Sandringham estate in May 2023.
  • Defendant Rosa Sharkey told the court she took the sheep to open the King’s eyes to the reality of sheep farming and encourage him to use his influence for change.
  • The trio claimed in a statement given to police that King Charles would have consented to the rescue because of concerns over animal welfare.
  • Sharkey admitted taking the animals with no intention of returning them, adding they were moved to a sanctuary to prevent them from being slaughtered.
  • Following the incident, the activists travelled to Windsor to report their actions to the police and raise public awareness.
