CHENNAI: On World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day, disability rights activists highlighted the exclusion of people with the condition and other disabilities from government welfare schemes.
While the Rights of People With Disabilities (RPDA) Act, 2016, recognises 21 different types of disabilities, the recently constituted Tamil Nadu Welfare Board has representation only from five traditional disabilities including locomotor impairment (11 persons), visual impairment (1), deaf (1) and dwarfism (1), dismissing all the other health disabilities.
