Accused Long Island Serial Killer Indicted On Two New Charges

Accused Long Island serial killer Rex A. Heuermann appears during a hearing in Suffolk County Superior Court

The accused Long Island serial killer, Rex Huerman, has been indicted on two new murder charges, adding to the four women he has already pleaded not guilty to murdering. The latest charges include the deaths of Sandra Castillo in 1993 and Jessica Taylor in 2003, bringing the total number of alleged victims to six.

Authorities have been diligently investigating Huerman since his arrest last summer, with recent searches of his home and the woods of Manorville yielding potential evidence. The Gilgo Beach Task Force, responsible for the investigation, has been making progress in uncovering the truth behind the series of murders that shook Long Island's South Shore in 2010 and 2011.

Huerman's arrest last July was a result of meticulous detective work, including the use of cell site data and DNA evidence. Investigators were able to link DNA from the crime scenes to a discarded pizza crust found in midtown Manhattan, where Huerman worked as an architect. His ex-wife promptly divorced him following his arrest.

As the court proceedings unfold in Riverhead, New York, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney is expected to provide further details on the case. The hearing marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the Gilgo Four and other victims linked to Huerman.
