Two of the six accused in the murder of scholar M.M. Kalburgi were produced before the Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge in Dharwad on Tuesday.
Amol Kale and Praveen Prakash Chatur alias Krishnamurthy, who are lodged in Parappana Agrahar Jail in Bengaluru and Dharwad Central Prison, respectively, were produced before the court by the police.
Counsel for the accused Gourishankar, who was to cross examine the main witnesses, including Roopadarshi and Umadevi, daughter and wife of the slain professor, filed an application on Tuesday seeking permission to defer cross examination.
In the application, he sought the court’s permission to cross examine other witnesses first to which the public prosecutor objected.
After hearing both sides, Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge Panchakshari Maheshwari reserved her order on the application for Wednesday.
Amit Baddi, Ganesh Miskin of Hubballi and Vasudev Suryavanshi of Maharastra, who are lodged in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai, and Sharat Kalaskar, who is in Yerawada Jail in Pune, were not produced before court on Tuesday owing to some technical issues. They are expected to be produced on the next date of hearing, i.e., on Friday.
