An abusive husband limited how much toilet paper his wife could use during a campaign to control her that lasted years. A court heard that he also stopped her from seeing her children and strangled her.
Paul Brenan, 67, appeared in court on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty to charges of controlling and coercive behaviour and assaulting resulting in actual bodily harm against his wife.
He had initially denied the charges at an earlier magistrates' court hearing. But upon appearing at a crown court he changed his plea ahead of a planned trial.
